Interesting how what seemed edgy and profound when I was 18 now comes across as simplistic and a bit silly. Easy Rider's one of those Classic Films that seems to work best when its characters aren't delivering dialogue.
One of my long-standing pet peeves regarding DVD/Blu-ray audio commentaries: When filmmakers commenting on their non-political, 25-year-old movie unexpectedly get political and compare their fictional film to modern day events. "My 1982 creature feature's just like the war in Iraq!". No, it's not.
Clever, suspenseful, insanely violent, frequently funny and very unpredictable, but, ultimately, quite depressing. I really liked it on this first viewing, but I'm not sure I'll ever watch it again.
Man, do I hate it when New Age crackpots venture into B-picture Exploitation territory.
