Reading through several reviews of this picture, I noticed each reviewer had the same gripe with the film. Namely that what started off as a keenly observed teen angst story "disappointingly" wandered into "Slasher" territory for its finale. This gripe is what convinced me to check it out.
Sundance-y Movie: Told on a smaller scale, from a smaller perspective, with an unpolished feeling to its script, which is frequently dialogue-heavy. Its visuals are usually underwhelming, with little regard given to shot compositions, and offering a drab color palette.
Currently available for viewing on Netflix, this seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it movie with viewers. Even critics were polarized.
If the project was worth the actor's while, it must have merit, my reasoning went. Guided by that rationale, I sat through so much garbage.
